DAY 2

Warning: there will be a lot of photos of my kids at the beach, at the pool, on the golf cart, eating pineapple, drinking smoothies, etc. over the next 19 days.  My mom says I need to step back and document more than just close ups of my kid's faces, as cute as they are, so I'm going to try.

It's 8:30pm over here, which also means it's past my bedtime and I should wrap it up here.  We seem to be asleep by 8:00pm in Hawaii but start the day by 6:00am (early for us Chalmers folk).

Our morning activities:

Golf cart ride after a hot tub and breakfast.  Here is Pakui Street where we are staying (I'm stepping back).

Vanilla latte, strawberry & banana smoothie and muffin at the Hualalai Coffee Company.

Morning exercise at the Sports Club.  Jake and I take turns.

Here is Jake doing laps while the kids cheer him on.

Will has his morning nap.  Here he is fresh from waking up.  He needs his cuddles (like me).

 Our Afternoon Activities:

To the beach and/or pool.

Will having his favourite snacks, all at the same time: Goldfish, a banana and an apple.

The "Kid Pool" (we don't see the "Adult Pool").

Will exploring.

Our Evening Activities:

Raking the sandpit, of course.

Fajitas on the lanai.

Champagne and beer.

Our place looking from the golf course.

Encouraging Sam to run to the trees and back in hopes of tuckering him out for bed.

I'm loving those 3 trees!  I couldn't decide which picture I liked best of Will and the trees...

More to come tomorrow.  My girl is turning 6!!

DAY 1: KONA, HAWAII

Kona, Hawaii

We made it!

I always imagine that the 6 hour flight with 3 kids is going to be a lot worse than it is.  Sam and Clara watched a movie and promptly fell asleep, and Will was completely entertained with the man sitting behind us and by throwing things at me.  He was the most wired and it did require Jake to do some of his Daddy bouncing moves for him to finally go to sleep.

As expected, the day started at 4:52am Hawaii time.  Since it was still dark out, Jake convinced them to go back to bed until it was light.  An hour later, the day officially begun.

First, a dip in the hot tub and the pool.

And then a golf cart ride to get mommy a coffee.  Sam is OBSESSED with the golf cart this trip. He just sits in it in the garage waiting for someone to take him for a ride.

While Jake went to Costco and Safeway to stock up on groceries and supplies (it was not a pleasant trip by all accounts), the kids and I swam some more,

went on another golf cart ride,

and picked out an ice cream at the store which we then ate at Turtle Park.

Sam beat me at Spiderman Memory.

The kids worked on their foam mosaics.  Will ate lots of foam.

And when Jake returned from his 3 hour grocery adventure, we went to the hotel pool, where we had some Otter Pops,

made some new friends,

and played...

Clara said that this was the best day ever.  Sam wants to know when he can go on the golf cart again?

MAX'S SUPERHERO PARTY

The kids and I went to Max's Superhero party yesterday...the first of 3 birthday parties we are going to this weekend.

This post is a little heavy on the photos, but I LOVE taking pictures at kid's birthday parties.  I wonder if this could be a niche...photo documenting a birthday party? I like showers too.  I also was trying out 2 of mom's lenses that she bravely lent me, and which came back unscathed, I might add.

This picture cracks me up. The boys are trying to hold up 4 fingers which is how old Max is.  I think Sam got distracted and is doing his Spidie web slinger move instead.

I'm loving Riley's wink
