HALLOWEEN REVISTED

I need to post a few pictures from Halloween before the Christmas boxes come out. There is talk that my mom is going to put up her Christmas lights tomorrow so I had better do this quick. This year, we did Halloween in our neighbourhood. We started with a quick dinner of monster toes and ketchup (weiners rolled in dough), witches fingers (mozza cheese sticks with pickle fingernails) and fang punch (pomegranate juice) Clara was a very beautiful angel (no surprise there), Sam was Spiderman (he even wore his Spiderman jammies under his costume) and Will was a bat (Rocco's costume from last year). For the record, I was a vampire, not a witch. We hit the streets by 5:30pm starting at YaYa's next door and ended up a couple blocks down the way where we hit the trick or treat Mother Lode. The night ended with cupcakes, juice boxes (wine for the adults) and a firework display outside on our street. I picked up a $40 kit and let Clara and Sam pick out a firework each. Clara choose the "Silver Fairy" and Sam opted for the "Meteor Invasion" (mostly because it had a green package, his current favourite colour). There were no injuries, just a close call when Jake lit the "Python" in Papou's blue car wash bucket which then exploded into pieces causing some shrapnel to whiz by YaYa's face. In all, quite exciting.

SAM'S CHRISTMAS WISH

Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas is a GREEN JEEP (must be green).  I promise I won't terrorize my sister or sit on my brother anymore.  And I will listen to my mommy and not ride Kirby like a horse.

Love Sam.

FALL

It may come as a surprise, considering how much I love the summer and with it, the warm sun, flip flops, a-line skirts, blueberries and tomatoes, Pasley and lazy mornings in our pajamas...(I could go on), but I really do love the Fall as well.  First, September for me is like January 1st for most.  It is a time to write my lists (I do a lot of these) and make some resolutions.  I usually have big plans to organize the basement, the garage, the closets, etc. and make a yearly trip to London Drugs with my mom to stock up on Rubbermaids.  There is often some sort of exercise and eating plan.  This year, it was run a half marathon (yikes) and eat less processed sugars (yikes) as well as a list of projects and crafts I want to accomplish.  I already scratched "learn to sew" off the list, but maybe 2009?  I particularly love being outside on sunny but crispy (I know most people would say crisp) Fall days, when the leaves have changed colour and some have fallen to the ground.  Jake's and my new latte drinking phase goes perfectly with this season.  Walking outside with the kids, sipping a warm drink is a perfect day in my opinion.
